Faith Lutheran belongs to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS). As a Lutheran congregation, we find our identity in our proclamation: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. We believe that the Scriptures alone are normative for faith and life. We subscribe to the Book of Concord because (quia) they agree with the Scriptures. If you have any questions, check the links or contact Pastor. He would be happy to speak with you.

Our Church

Faith LCMS began as an outreach to the people in La Grande, Oregon.  Rev. Walter F. Biel of Good Shepherd LCMS of Pendleton, Oregon, came to La Grande every Sunday beginning in 1958. Grace LCMS of Enterprise was supportive in this outreach. Faith was a dual congregation with Grace during 1960s and 1970s.   Faith is appreciative of these churches' support in order that Faith LCMS could get established. Since Rev. Biel, Faith LCMS has been served by Rev. Arthur Lewis (1958-62), Rev. James Henslin (1962-64), Rev. John Bucka (1964-70), Rev. Patrick O’Brien (1970-1974), Rev. Mark Lieske (1974-1977), Rev. Enno Klammer (Interim as needed 1970s), Rev. Luther Gutz (1977-83), Rev. Fred Reis (Interim 1983-84), Rev. Wilfred Nitz (1984-2003), and Rev. Samuel Wiseman (2003-present).

Faith is dedicated to the mission of Jesus Christ to call people to His saving work.  We are committed to the faithful proclamation of the Word of God and the proper administration of the Lord’s Sacraments.   We are honored to be part of Jesus Christ’s believers as we Maintain the Ministry of Jesus Christ’s Mission.   We pray for the Lord to provide for us and direct us in this endeavor.
